I believe Outliers is the sophomore full-length from Belluno, Italy quartet Aftersmoke, whose chunky, emo-tinged brand of "alternative metal" has the potential to become far more "popular" than it probably will. But that's what I always say, isn't it?
I believe it, though. Great recording, radio-ready choruses with lots of soaring vocals, a nice balance between melody and heaviness... To be "mainstream" is frowned upon, I suppose, but there's something about Aftersmoke that feels "better than that," for lack of a more suitable explanation. They're floating in that not-quite-mainstream, not-quite-underground limbo.
Of course, none of that should matter in the least. Good music is good music, and that's precisely why I'm typing these words. If you're open-minded, check out the full album. If not? Your loss!
