Song of the Day: Cold & Distant, “Heavy Burdens,” from Damaged Over Time (Self-Released, 2015)

I check out a lot of newer hardcore bands, but rarely get particularly excited anymore. Charleston, WV's Cold & Distant, however, possess that extra spark that really hits the spot and gets the blood boiling. It's just short, aggressive, to the point metallic hardcore with ferociously powerful vocals and a great balance between thrashy speeds and midpaced grooves. Energetic drumming and bitter lyrics are just icing on the cake, at that point.

I couldn't tell you why they're "selling" these two tracks for $99.99—maybe this is not the full EP just yet? Either way, the material totally crushes, and I'm quite looking forward to hearing more. (You can grab their self-titled EP from 2014 as a name your price download.)
