A few weeks ago, a friend of mine sent me an email asking if I had heard "Toronto-based synth duo" Electric Youth. To my knowledge, I had not , but I was impressed (I was also wrong: I didn't realize they collaborated on one of the key tracks from the Drive soundtrack), so I checked out their debut full-length, Innerworld, a few weeks later when it first hit the streets.
Their brand of kinda chill, sorta dark, but still catchy '80s-tinged synth-pop doesn't cross my path too often, but it's a consistently high-quality listen, so if you dig the track above, the entire album should really hit the spot.
Stream Innerworld on Spotify, or pick it up on a variety of formats straight from the label.

I love EY! College (David Grellier) is another artist in the same vein.

Yeah, I first heard them on a Valerie compilation if memory serves. Another excellent track of theirs is “Right Back To You” which is available on a separate EP.

Nice spotlight here guys: a pure head-on collision of Cocteau Twins and late 80’s Dave Stewart & Barbara Gaskin.
For more modern synth-pop awesomeness to spotlight in the future, I highly recommend The Diogenes Club’s self-titled and anything by Tesla Boy. ^_^

Yep, that Tesla Boy stuff is right up this alley.

HOLY. SHIT. Checked out one song apiece on YouTube and I’m in. Way in. Great tips. Many thanks! I’ve got some digging to do now…
Yo, @grawmps, did you get that email I sent you a few weeks back?

Don’t think I did. I just updated my email address on my profile though to a new one, so re-send if you can to my new email. :)
