Song of the Day: Gevurah, “Consecrated Remains,” from Rites of Degeneracy (Yamabushi, 2015)

The latest release from the Yamabushi Recordings collective, UK act Gevurah (featuring members of Cease to Exist and Nembutal) also represents one of the stronger examples of the savagely raw, lo-fi madness for which the label is responsible. Imagine Gehenna (US, not Norway) splintered with alternatingly fast-paced or crawlingly dissonant black metal and abrasive old school German thrash—drenched in distortion and feedback, and almost certainly recorded live.

What more can be said? They rip and tear through seven tracks in less than 10 minutes, and it's a take-no-prisoners type of affair.

Limited to a mere 23 copies on cassette (with a great visual aesthetic to boot), Rites of Degeneracy is available physically or digitally via Bandcamp, or through the label's webstore.
