Song of the Day: Ha Det Bra, “In Lies,” from Societea for Two (Geenger/PDV, 2015)

Flagged on the onesheet as recommended for fans of The Jesus Lizard, Sonic Youth, and Killdozer, if Zagreb, Croatia outfit Ha Det Bra brings to mind stunningly perfect lurching and skronk-mangled '90s noise rock, well... that's because it kind of is. You see, the group formed way back in 1991 and released a handful of cassettes throughout the '90s, before reuniting in 2012 after 14 years of inactivity. The result is Societea for Two: a collection of 14 tracks—three new, and 11 re-recorded rarities.

I imagine it'd be near-impossible to come by those original cassettes at this point, so this set—displaying an excellent blend of dark, frenzied aggression, peculiar abstractions, and catchy bursts of energy—is as good an introduction as any (always better late than never). Available on CD, LP, or digitally through Geenger and PDV Records, stream the entire album or purchase your preferred format via Bandcamp.

Maybe they'll throw their '90s era recordings up there someday, too?
