Holy Terror… uhhh… Monday… sort of…

Someone posted a comment the other day asking me to "do one more review about everything Integrity released throughout the years", which I most definitely do not have time to do (plus, I've already done plenty of gushing about the supreme mastery of Integrity, some of which can still be read here), but I was planning on posting these somewhat "rare" (or at least "songs that a lot of people aren't familiar with") Integrity tracks anyway, so... now's as good a time as any, I suppose.

When I was younger I always loved split 7"s. The format was cool, the whole notion of one band on side A and another on side B was cool... I dunno, I just dug 'em. But nowadays? Not so much. I mean, besides the fact that vinyl's a pain in the ass to listen to (I can't even remember the last time I listened to a 7" unless I was digitizing it, and I'm generally too busy/lazy to even do that these days), it sucks when awesome songs are relegated to 10-minute vinyl EP's or (if you're lucky) collection CD's as opposed to actually appearing on proper albums or whatever. And these two songs absolutely fall into that category:

Integrity "ATF Assault"*
(Ripped from the "Taste of Every Sin" CD. Originally appeared on the split 7" with Hatebreed under the title of "BATF Would Be Proud" in 1995.)

Integrity "Divinity in Exile"
(Ripped from the "Victory Singles Volume 3" CD. Originally appeared on the split 7" with Lockweld in 1998.)

Yet another reason why I'm loving the whole iPod thing is that now I can listen to these songs regularly and integrate them into the rest of my Integrity rotation, instead of (in the case of the latter) having to skip through a bunch of weak tracks by bands like Electric Frankenstein and shit to get to the good stuff, ha, ha...

*This is the real (or perhaps "trve", if you will) "ATF Assault". As mentioned here in the past, the track titled "ATF Assault" on "Seasons in the Size of Days" is actually a song called "All is Lost", which—if memory serves—originally appeared on the "Compilation for Atonement" 7".

  2. Electric Frankenstein were poor, and I second the ripping of 7 inches, this year, I have gone crazy for them and bought loads. Have to say though Andrew, nothing like spinning the real thing, but then, its equally awesome having something like the Green Rage 7 uninterrupted on the ipod ;)

  3. of course integrity rules. never heard these tracks before. theyre not essential integrity but they are fuckin integrity and thats that. dwid’s voice is a national treasure. wreckugnize.

  4. I have this album that not only is by Electric Frankenstein but it`s also a 10” vinyl (on man`s ruin). Now, according to you this should be the ultimate nightmare release, but it`s on transparent spooky green vinyl and I love it, hahaha. EF are an easy target, we all should leave them alone :)

  5. not to be a dick, but i think that “ATF Assault” w/ lemmy intro was on the split 7” w/ kids of whitney hight (w/ bloodbook magazine)! anywho, integrity = badass. all up to “seasons…” is essential IMO.

  6. Ha, I totally forgot that split existed, and that sounds about right, actually.  I haven’t listened to either record in ages and don’t have my 7"s in front of me.  Was the one on the Hatebreed split a different recording or just sans Lemmy intro?  I’ll have to check just for the hell of it if I can remember… nice catch.

  7. Hey Andrew,
thanks for posting the two songs. I already knew em but haven’t listen to them for a looong time. I think we ordered that 7” from Dwids ex wife or something cos back in the days it was hard to get stuff like this in Germany.
And to Ben: up to “seasons…”? What about “humanity is the devil”(Which I think is a masterpiece that can easily be mentioned in one sentence with “Those who fear…”? Wasn’t that one afterwards?

    7.24.2007 | By Ingo

  8. “Humanity…” was after “Systems Overload” and before “Seasons…”

  9. thanks. I’m not good in figures. Do you got any news about dwid or the melnicks? Any new projects I should know of?

  10. The Melnicks are doing the Darvocets I believe.  More like bar rock kinda punk instead of trv kvlt Holy Terror but oh well.  I also agree w/Ingo that “Humanity…” was their true (albeit poorly recorded) magnum opus.

  11. i think aaron is in a lot of the “non-commercial” records bands: inmates & cider for sure… i can’t say confidently about the darvocets, but they’re all related in an incestous kinda way…  painkiller records just reissued inmates / cider / darvocets stuff, so check there to… cleveland punk / HC rules!

    check it:

Aaron is spotting a nice mustache, haha. great!

  16. Forget everything. This stuff is from 94 and 98, band is called Inmates.
It was a second of hope at least…
    Out.

  17. ingo: no worries.
these cleveland bands are great & just seem to go unnoticed in a lot of circles… a real shame.

i was lucky enough to see integrity between “humanity…” & “seasons…”
... such an awesome show. one of the best bands of the ‘90s for sure.

cleveland HC seems like a buncha sketchy dudes who just know what’s up in regards to HC/punk

  18. recently stumbled across one of Dwid’s new projects:

    http://www.myspace.com/sagevisule

I think it has also members of Roses Never Fade

    intense

  19. the melnicks have nothing to do with the Darvocets. The Darvocets are not schmaltzy bar rock either, nor do they want anything to do with that holy TERRor SHITE.

  20. The ATF Assault track here was also featured on the “A Taste of Every Sin” CD re-issue that was a huge compilation of various Integ tracks from over the years.

Gotta love how “No Way But Out” has a Boyd Rice track as an intro!

  22. thanks for the integrity songs and i agree that the melnicks band darvocets certainly are playing that schmaltzy bar punk style! i thought that craze died out a few years back when epitaph stopped releasing that stuff? wish the melnicks would make good old metal hc music again instead.

  23. Hey HOe-lee terror, Moslem Birth was right when he said the Melnick’s were NOT in the Darvocets. You’re thinking of THE INMATES.
