Reposting this classic for anyone who missed it years ago. I still know fairly little about this record, but it's easily one of the best grindcore EP's ever released, and I'd probably rank it very closely behind Terrorizer's "World Downfall" as my favorite grindcore release of all time. I know that sounds crazy, but this is seriously one of the most underrated records I've ever encountered. I found it several years ago in a used bin for like .50 cents or something and bought it because I loved the band name, and as soon as I listened to it I was completely floored. It came out on the Sensual Underground Ministries label in 1996, and from what I can tell you can probably still get your hands on it from traders or distro leftovers if you do some digging. Expect 11 tracks of raging grind in about as many minutes, with tons of tempo changes and slick dissonant riffing—very much recommended for fans of the almighty Assück, but I like this a lot better since they focus more on feel rather than intense speeds (granted there's no absence of intense speeds on this thing). Members have gone on to perform with Goat Shanty and BG, among others, but I haven't really followed any of their work past this mighty 7". So, without further ado:

This shit is excellent. I think the production really adds a lot to the overall feel of the songs, too. Did they record anything else before moving on to the other bands you mentioned?

i found this record for like $3 and bought it up as my friend raved about the record
i wish they stuck around for more releases, but this 7” is all I’ve been able to find from them

I know they did songs on a couple of comps, which I assume were different than the tracks on this EP, but sadly I think that’s it!

good stuff and i’m surprised how thick the guitar sound and the production in general is. i’m going to keep an eye out for this one.

Hey guys and or gals, I sang for ROB.We only recorder the 7” and 3 comps, unfortunatly we had about 6 or 7 more songs that I thought were much better than the ep.We couldn’t keep it together long enough to record them. Those guys are great musicians!I’m really flattered that we still have a pretty good appreciation almost 10 years later….

Great stuff! Nice mix of stuff, doesn’t sound like just one long song broken up into 15 second individually titled tracks, but instead each song is independent.

This band rules, unlike Terrorizer who are rather boring.

Years ago a friend of mine bought this at a show and I remember calling him the next day just to see what’s up and the conversation went something like this “Fuckin’ Rash Of Beatings is what’s up. Christ…jesus fuck…they rule”. So there you go…I taped it, but who knows where the hell that cassette is. Thanks for this!

YES!! This EP absolutely rages!! I recall playing the hell out of this 7” when i first got it.
Maybe I’m getting old/rusty…......but I never really considered this to be grind. Always filed it in my brain as fast-as-hell crust…..............but who the fuck cares about labels.
Anyone into/remember HAIL OF RAGE? These two bands are definetely gems.

Hail of Rage and Dissension were the shit back then!! Man…I need to rip my vinyl to mp3…

I saw this band play 2 or 3 times and have had this 7 inch since it came out. Awesome stuff. A small collection of punk musicians in Fort Smith created some really amazing bands… still love that Benchmark 7” and all the Burned Up Bled Dry recordings….

One of the last good shows I played before people quit listening to this type of music and attennding DIY shows ....brutal indeed

my band took GOAT SHANTY out on tour in Europe in 2000 as our driver lived together with Jason (I think) while living in the U.S.. the band we had planned to tour with couldn’t do the tour and so Axel convinced us to take GOAT SHANTY by tapeing the R.O.B. 7” for us as they hadn’t recorded anything themselves at that time!
we agreed not knowing that it would end up as a HALFULA, GOAT SHANTY, ERADICATE tour as Axel told us that HALFULA would be with us the day he picked us up.
we had scamed a van for free from Volkswagen for the tour that had 8 seats while we were 9 people! 2 weeks on the road under such circumstances isn’t funny all the time!
I still wonder that nobody noticed that what we did was violating several German laws, especially when we crossed borders!
the sad thing is that I gave Tosh (he played guitar in R.O.B. & G.S.) and Jamie the HALFULA singer several records at the end of the tour and they promised to send me some records when back home, this 7” should be among those, but I never got anything from them!
if you want to check out GOAT SHANTY or BG do a blogsearch on my blog.

P.S.: I guess ASSÜCK comes to mind as R.O.B. also had no bass?

Just wanted to say thanks for posting this. I’ve probably listened to it as much as any other piece of music since you posted it. Last night I found it in the used bin for $1.99 and it made my week.
