Reason #5,871,365 why iPods can be helpful…

Cutting the extraneous crap out of unnecessarily long songs.

The almighty Godflesh's "Go Spread Your Wings" is a 24-minute track. It does not need to be. More than half of the song is fairly random, generally uninteresting, borderline go-nowhere noise bullshit. The rest is fucking awesome. Still, I haven't listened to this song in years since it appears last on a 78+ minute CD and takes way too damn long to get going. So I chopped that fucker down to the real meat: 11 minutes of masterful Godflesh perfection. Enjoy...

  3. I have to disagree, I think this is best enjoyed in the complete form, I love the meandering ambience at the end and the tense build up it makes the climax all the more powerful.

Still an interesting mutuation of an absolute classic song ;)

  5. I don’t use iTunes to cut down the songs, I use SoundForge.  But it’s damn sure easier to cut down songs and throw them into an iTunes library than it is to re-burn them to CD-R or whatever, ha, ha…
