Song of the Day: Separated, “Alone,” from Force Fed Misery (Cold Hand, 2016)

It seems like more and more surprisingly promising new metallic hardcore is crossing my path as of late, Long Island's Separated being the latest and one of my immediate favorites—right up there with Lifeless in terms of songwriting quality and overall power (and that's a huge compliment coming from me).

"Alone" brings to mind '90s acts like Harvest without going for a throwback type of sound; balancing chugging hardcore with dark, metallic riffing (occasionally peppered with some European metalcore flavor) and excellently forceful vocals. The huge production packs a hell of a punch, too. Just awesome.

The full EP will be available next year on 7" and cassette from Cold Hand Records, and that day can't come soon enough! In the meantime, you can also check out Separated's previous two-song EP and 2013 demo via Bandcamp.
