Song of the Day: Vermapyre, “Trône de Sang/Cercueil de la Mort,” from Vermapyre/Oede Split (2014)

Vermapyre is an increasingly prolific project that finds Integrity frontman Dwid Hellion creating blackened, experimental horrorscapes using homemade guitars and percussion instruments. Or, in the (more specific) words of the artist:

Flickering imagery haunts while concealing the forgotten past of our shadowy vaudevillian apparition known as Vermapyre. Distorted, broken sounds from the deteriorated reels of many lost 1920s silent-era horror films devour the listener within the blackened, grit-pocked nightmare that is conjured through the Vermapyre homemade electric cigar box guitar.

Having released three split 7"s (with Parasite, Vehrmöedr, and Oede), one split 12" (with Ides of Gemini), and a few compilation tracks, live appearances from Vermapyre have been quite rare. However, on September 19, 2015, Vermapyre will be performing a Saturday matinee at The Sidebar in Baltimore, MD (where Dwid will also participate in a live interview). Tickets are limited, and can be purchased online through MissionTix.

This matinee, of course, precedes Integrity's only US performance of 2015, that same night at Baltimore Soundstage—alongside, amongst others, Chokehold. This will be a unique performance of the Walpurgisnacht lineup, with a setlist drawing from To Die For, Walpurgisnacht, and The Blackest Curse (as well as some earlier classics). Check out the night's full lineup on the A389 Recordings Bandcamp page, and grab tickets via Ticketfly.
