Song of the Day: Wait, Stone & Sure, “When the Bones are Clean” (2013)

I was (and still am) a huge fan of the Finnish band Fall of the Leafe (come to think of it, I should do a SOTD post about them, too), so I was beyond excited to learn late last year that former Fall of the Leafe members Tuomas Tuominen and Jussi Hänninen were back in action with a new trio called Wait, Stone & Sure.

There are eight Wait, Stone & Sure tracks floating around between YouTube and Facebook, and it seems that they were all recorded between one and three years ago. The band posted mention of an "up-and-coming album" in April of 2012, but there hasn't been much in the way of news since then, so I'm starting to fear that it may never happen at this point.

It would be a true shame, though, as it's great material. Much like the band that Fall of the Leafe evolved into, it's memorable yet morose melodic metal that shows little regard for fitting in with any particular genre or trend. For the songs to only be available as shittily-compressed YouTube streams is absolutely criminal, so I'm crossing my fingers that they'll show up for purchase on Bandcamp one day, if nothing else. (Though of course a proper album release would be preferred!)
